The direction axes of research at IAP are defined in accordance with the concerns of the energy sector:

Upstream Oil
- Sedimentology training and evaluation of reservoirs,
- Characterization of porous media synthesis and modeling,
- Geodynamic and geochemical sedimentary basins acquisition synthesis
- Treatment of geophysical information,
- Optimizing the exploitation of oil and gas aided-recovery.

Downstream Oil
- Optimization and simulation of refining processe, petrochemistry and gas processing,
- Enhancing the quality of charges of refineries by mixing different raws and condensate to respond to international specifications,
- Enhancement of condensate for petrochemicals and gasoline pool,
- Promotion of LPG as fuel
- Synthesis and characterization of new polymer materials,
- Corrosion and environmental protection,
- Synthesis of surface-active, inhibitors and chemicals.
