The UFR Geosciences & Mines ensures the following training programmes:
- Geosciences (geology and geophysics)
- Mining
Training leading to degree:
  1. Specialized Engineer in “Geology”
  2. Specialized Engineer in “Geophysics
  3. Master in “Geosciences”

Continuous Training:
  • Advanced training, re-training
  • Seminars

    Laboratories:

    1. Rocks’ Laboratory
    2. 1
The making of thin sections starting from a sample of rock or carrot for:
      - Microscope Study of the thin sections under to plot the geological history of an area,
      - Petrographic Study of the oil reservoirs.
Material used: power saw, Grinding machine, Polishing machine.
      * Training: Practical work for the students.

      2

    3. X- Rays Laboratory
    4. 3
The X-Rays Diffraction constitutes the most useful and widely used techniques for the identification of minerals.
Any crystallized body can be analyzed by X-Rays Diffraction: a beam of x-rays is diffracted on a network of crystallized plans according to BRAGG law.
      • Preparation of samples
      - Crushing of samples
      - Preparation of powders
      • Preparation of clays
      * Training: practical works for the students, training on the techniques.

    5. Geoframe station/ Interprétation (Schlumberger) & Station / Traitement (Landmark)

The Geosciences & Mines TRU has 03 stations of data handling respectively dedicated to geophysics:
the seismic data processing (Landmark Stations; ProMAX software):
    - 2D, 3D software and seismic of the wells,
    - 2D/3D conventional treatment,
    - AVO analysis, PSV treatment zero Offset and with Offset,

The interpretation of the seismic data (Stations: Landmark/Schlumberger):
    - 2D/3D Seismic Interpretation,
    - Layout of the charts in isochronal, isobaths and reserves estimate,
    - Calculation and chock of synthetic film with the section,
    - Calculation of the seismic attributes,
    - Logging (setting and interpretation),
    - Geology: reconstitution of the stratigraphic column, layers demarcation of and correlation work.
The Training: practical work of interpretation and realization of seminars.

    Future actions:
    1. Room of Simulation software:
This room will be available soon for simulations using the specialities’software, actually in the course of acquisition:

    2. Acquisition of Soil mechanics Laboratory:
    • Granulometric analysis ‘all types of grounds’
    • Sedimentation analysis (from 0,995 to 1,038 g/ml)
    • Test of compaction (Proctor Test) `' all types of grounds, variable reaching 04 m maximum `'
    • Oedometric compression test
    • Resistance test: apparatus of direct shearing provided with a shearing Cell (50 mm)
    • C.B.R Test
    • Triaxial/direct shearing Test `' 50 mm cell sample ' (applicable Press of containment by hydraulic jack).
    • Relative density Measure
    • Atterberg limits Measure: Manual and motorized Standard apparatus provided with smooth cups
    • Permeability Measure (permeability Cell with constant and variable load)
    • Specific Weight Measure
    • Water content Measure
    • Triaxial Materials Control/Oedometry/direct shearing
    • Control of the compaction of the excavations (portable light dynamic Penetrometer for all the types of grounds), variable Depth being able to reach 04 meters maximum.
    * Training: practical work for students.

    3. Acquisition of the Simulator ‘Work Over’,

    4. Acquisition of the Microscope,

    5. Setting up soon the International Training Centre Landmark.
